The Role:
We are seeking a full-time Senior Sous Chef to join our leadership team.
You will run the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef, working across both preparation and service while upholding established systems and standards. This role suits a chef who takes pride in organisation, consistency, and leading by example.
In this role, you will
Champion Exceptional Produce:
* Lead service with calm confidence in a refined, degustation environment
* Uphold precision, consistency and thoughtful presentation in every course
* Collaborate on seasonal menu development, drawing on local suppliers and regional produce
* Ensure every dish reflects Babae's philosophy and attention to detail
Oversee Operations with Care:
* Lead day-to-day kitchen operations and service flow while supporting food and labour cost targets
* Manage ordering, stock control and accurate stock takes, driving efficiency and minimising waste
* Build and maintain strong relationships with regional suppliers and producers
* Mentor, develop and support the team, fostering a positive, professional kitchen culture
You'll confidently run the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence and play a meaningful role in shaping the next chapter of Babae as we continue to define regional dining in Victoria.

Suitable candidates must have the following:
* Sous Chef – At least 3 years experience leading a kitchen team and must have experience in working in a hatted or Michelin level establishment,
* Chef - Trade qualification and a minimum 3 years experience in similar role
* Strong fine-dining and tasting menu background
* Creativity and passion for the industry
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
