Job Role: Health Safety Specialist
We are seeking an experienced and skilled professional to deliver a comprehensive Work Health and Safety system. This role supports all aspects of safety across the organisation, including system development, policy review, audits, investigations, reporting, and more.
Main Responsibilities:
* Provide expert guidance on WHS, injury management, and return-to-work practices to staff members
* Assist in developing, implementing, and continuously improving the organisation's WHS system
* Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards
* Work with stakeholders to develop strategies and programs to enhance workplace safety and reduce claims
* Support incident investigation and hazard resolution processes, promoting a proactive approach to risk management
* Compile and provide WHS statistics and reports as required
* Manage workplace health surveillance programs, including vaccinations and immunisations
* Administer rehabilitation programs for injured workers, adhering to relevant legislation
* Coordinate emergency preparedness and response initiatives, such as fire drills and evacuations
* Develop and implement WHS education, induction, and training programs to ensure compliance with legislative requirements
* Assist in developing and refining Safe Work Methods Statements (SWMS) and Safe Working Procedures (SWPs)
* Lead investigations into serious incidents and assist with reviewing incident investigations
* Collaborate with teams to discuss incidents, hazards, and outcomes from incident investigations
* Support onsite risk assessments for high-risk work activities
Essential Criteria:
* Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety, accompanied by extensive experience in senior WHS roles
* Accreditation as a Return-to-Work Coordinator under SafeWork NSW regulations
* Proven expertise in interpreting and applying WHS legislation and regulations
* Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with various levels of management and staff
* Experience conducting complex WHS investigations and audits
* Proficiency in delivering on-the-job WHS induction, education, and awareness training
* Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
This is a permanent, full-time position working 35 hours per week.
