Beacon Legal have partnered with a leading Australian mining and resources business in their search for a senior Commercial Lawyer. They are looking to hire someone at the 8–12 PQE level, to be based in their central Brisbane office.
We're seeking a commercially astute and confident commercial lawyer to join a high-performing and well-regarded business. This role offers genuine breadth, working across commercial, regulatory, projects and dispute-related matters within a business that places a strong emphasis on safe, sustainable operations across the resources and energy sector.

About the Role
* Provide strategic, independent legal advice to senior leaders, balancing commercial objectives with effective management of legal and regulatory risk.
* Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including procurement, supply, services and other critical operational contracts.
* Advise on regulatory and compliance matters, including workplace health and safety (regulatory investigations and prosecutions), environmental and public liability issues, insurance, privacy, IP, risk and general corporate matters.
* Manage and resolve commercial disputes and claims, working closely with internal stakeholders and external advisers as required.
* Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, regulators and owners' representatives, and contribute to key projects and broader business initiatives.
What type of person will be successful?
* Admitted as a lawyer in Australia.
* 8–12 years' PQE as a commercial lawyer, gained in private practice and/or in-house, ideally with exposure to the resources and energy sector.
* Strong strategic and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex legislation and deliver clear, pragmatic, business-focused advice.
* Proven experience across commercial contracting, regulatory compliance and general corporate matters.
* Collaborative, adaptable and self-motivated, with excellent communication skills and the confidence to influence senior stakeholders.
* Thrives in dynamic environments, demonstrates sound judgment and integrity, and brings a strong focus on safety and sustainability.
