About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Design Coordinator or Manager (subject to relevant experience) to join our development and construction team, delivering Class 2 residential projects including premium apartment buildings, high-rise towers, large-scale mixed-use and landmark residential developments.
This is a developer-side role with a strong focus on design governance, compliance, and risk management, ensuring projects meet regulatory and legislative compliance.
You will manage the design process from early concept through planning, detailed design, and construction delivery, working collaboratively with internal stakeholders, builders, and external consultants to ensure high-quality, compliant, and durable residential outcomes.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
The Design Manager plays a critical role in protecting the developer’s interests by ensuring design quality, regulatory compliance, and coordinated delivery.
· Lead and manage the end-to-end design process for Class 2 residential developments, including premium, high-rise, and landmark projects
· Ensure all design documentation complies with the NCC, planning approvals, consent conditions, DCP/LEP controls, Australian Standards, and project-specific guidelines
· Manage Planning Portal submissions, DA conditions, compliance tracking, and approvals across all project stages
· Coordinate architects, planners, Design consultants, certifiers, and engineers to deliver fully coordinated, compliant, and buildable design outcomes
· Act as the primary design interface between developer, builder, and consultants, supporting clear responsibility, timely decisions, and effective communication
· Review, assess, and approve consultant deliverables against scope, quality standards, program requirements, and constructability considerations
· Identify and proactively manage design, compliance, and defect risks, promoting a right-first-time approach and supporting value engineering without compromising design intent
· Provide ongoing design support during construction, including RFI management, issue resolution, site engagement, reporting, record-keeping, and mentoring of junior team members
About You:
A successful Design Manager requires a blend of technical expertise and interpersonal skills to effectively lead design projects and collaborate with various stakeholders.
· Proven 5 plus experience as a Design Manager or design coordinator.
· Strong proficiency in design software, including AutoCAD, Revit, and similar as required
· Solid understanding of construction methodologies, building codes, and industry standards
· Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills
· Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management
· A proactive, detail-oriented approach and ability to deliver high-quality design outcomes
· Relevant tertiary qualification in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
