The Role:
Reporting to the Head Chef, you will be the backbone of our kitchen operations. We are looking for a reliable individual to handle high-volume food preparation and maintain our high standards of cleanliness. The right person will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable following precise instructions to ensure our Mexican-inspired menu is ready for service.
A commitment to high standards of food safety, organization, and efficiency is crucial. Our kitchen hand must have solid communication habits with the chef and the front-of-house team.
Tasks and responsibilities:
* High-volume food preparation, including precise cutting, chopping, and slicing of fresh ingredients.
* Efficient dishwashing and sanitizing of all plates, utensils, and heavy cooking equipment.
* Properly labeling, dating, and storing food deliveries and prep items according to safety standards.
* Deep cleaning and sanitizing of workstations and kitchen surfaces throughout the shift.
* Forward planning and organization for the following day's prep list.
* Monitoring stock levels and reporting to the chef for timely re-ordering.
* Assisting the cooking team with basic assembly when required.
Job Details:
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 21 – 26 per week
Requirements:
* Prior experience as a kitchen hand or in a similar prep-heavy role.
* Excellent knife skills and a passion for working with fresh food.
* The ability to work at a fast pace while maintaining a clean and safe workspace.
* A 'can do' attitude and a willingness to get stuck into dishwashing during peak times.
* Punctual, reliable, and well-presented.
* Available Tuesday to Friday – Day shift hours roughly 23hrs per week
* Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset.
