This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026

Bunbury Senior High School (SHS) is perched on a hill overlooking both the cityscape of Bunbury and the extensive Bunbury beach front. It makes use of its location, extending the boundaries of the campus into the city, to provide students with a unique, rich learning experience in real world settings totally intertwined with the city itself.

The school’s historically listed buildings and exciting new additions symbolise its past and its future in education. Bunbury High is not just historically significant to Western Australia, it is a public secondary school whose reputation for care, teacher quality and innovative approach to curriculum implementation is changing the face of education within the South West Region. The Role

Bunbury SHS is seeking a committed, highly effective leader to join the Executive Team in the role of Deputy Principal.

This role is a critical part of our Executive team. You will ideally be a collaborative team member who provides educational leadership to the school and community. We are seeking a candidate with exceptional interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills who can build and maintain partnerships, fostering a shared ownership of our school's vision.

You will ideally be a leader who models a culture of continuous improvement, through a growth mindset, and self-reflection. This involves leveraging current educational research and trends to drive innovation and positive change. You will also mentor and coach middle leadership team members, assisting them to develop their instructional leadership capabilities.

We are seeking a dynamic leader to drive student academic achievement. In this role, you will be crucial in ensuring a seamless transition for students from Year 10 to Year 11, creating clear and successful pathways for all. Your responsibilities will include overseeing strategy and process for the achievement of key academic benchmarks in NAPLAN, OLNA, WACE performance, and examinations. You will also lead our Gifted and Talented Program and develop essential intervention strategies to support and improve student academic achievement at all levels of performance.

In collaboration with the Principal and other members of the executive team, you will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining systems, policies, and procedures for the efficient, effective operation of the school. This will include the line management for school excursion processes.
