Electrical High Voltage / Protection Engineer

About the role
Due to continued growth, we are seeking experienced and motivated High Voltage Electricians / Protection Technicians to join our team. This role will focus on the inspection, testing, maintenance, and commissioning of high voltage assets and protection systems across a range of commercial, industrial, and utility environments.
We are looking for individuals with a strong technical background, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a high‐performing team.
Tasks and Responsibilities
* Carrying out maintenance, testing, and fault finding on HV and LV electrical infrastructure, including switchgear, transformers, and associated equipment.
* Testing, commissioning, and maintenance of protection systems, including protection relays, and control schemes.
* Performing secondary injection and primary injection testing, relay configuration, and verification of protection settings.
* Conducting condition assessments and reporting on HV assets, identifying defects and recommending corrective actions.
* Interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and protection philosophies.
* Working closely with Leading Hands, Supervisors, Project Managers, and Operations Manager to deliver works safely and efficiently.
* Supporting outage planning and execution, including switching operations where authorised.
* Participating in after‐hours work, including planned outages and occasional emergency response.
* Working away from home when required (LAHA applicable).
* Participating in the on‐call roster as required.
Qualifications and Experience
* A‐Class Electrical Licence (essential)
* High Voltage Switching Qualification / Authorisation (essential)
* Protection Testing / Commissioning experience (essential for Protection Technician applicants)
* Experience with protection relays (e.g. SEL, Schneider, ABB, Siemens) highly regarded
* White Card
* LV Rescue and CPR / First Aid Certification
* Current Driver's Licence
* Strong understanding of electrical standards and safety procedures
Fortnightly RDOs.
