Our client is seeking an experienced finance professional to join a high-performing finance team as their Fixed Asset Accountant for a fixed term engagement. About the Role
This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of fixed asset management and play a key part in driving process improvement and efficiency across the finance function. Reporting to a senior leader in the finance team, this role is responsible for the management and oversight of fixed asset registers, capital project governance, and associated reporting. You'll step into this role and support the wider finance team in achieving their operational goals and targets, as well as contribute to broader finance projects and mentor and provide guidance to junior team members as needed.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and maintain fixed asset registers (including maintaining, managing, amending, retiring)
* Prepare and execute all EOM reporting & activities relating to the fixed AR
* Review work-in-progress and ensure accurate capitalisation
* Identify continuous improvement opportunities for process improvement and system efficiencies relating to both the Fixed Asset Register, as well as the wider finance team operations
* Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to support asset governance
* Knowledge share, provide education and training to non-AR team members to raise awareness and understand the importance of policy & procedure adherence
* Take part in business partnering activities to understand the pain-points relating to asset management practices and develop solutions to counter
About You
* You will be a consummate professional, highly adept at stakeholder management, balancing priorities and delivering projects and work on time, accurately and with care.
* A tertiary qualification in Accounting (B.Com, Master of Professional Accounting) or similar
* High level experience with fixed asset register management
* Highly developed commercial & business acumen
* Exceptional communication skills – written, verbal, face-to-face
* High-level stakeholder management skills – with the ability to manage up, down, side-to-side
* High degree of comfort liaising with internal stakeholders – at times non-finance team members and taking them on the journey with you
* Work well as part of a team but equally capable of working solo with drive and determination
* Solid experience and understanding of accounting practices, principles (AASB and/or IFRS)
* While not a necessity, it would be highly regarded if you have CPA or CA or are close to completing
* Demonstrable experience in similar roles where Asset Register maintenance and management was a core function of the role
* High level exposure to a wide range of ERP systems
