**About the Role**: As the Administration Officer (Braille), you will have responsibility for the following:
- Translate curriculum resources into braille using Duxbury translation software.
- Understand and maintain a high level of specialised knowledge of Unified English Braille (UEB) literary code, as well as additional technical braille codes for mathematics, science, foreign languages, music and ICT notation.
- Proof read and edit braille translated materials and files.
- Produce resources in alternative formats including large print, audio, digital and tactile, and convert print diagrams, graphs and maps into tactile diagrams using graphic programs for production.
- Produce tactile kits for early learners taking direction from the Alternative Format Library Teacher and develop an understanding of tactile discrimination and how to represent concepts tactilely in a meaningful way for learners with vision impairment.
- Use specialised software and hardware for production learning materials including Duxbury, Microsoft and Adobe programs, Braille embossers, printers, scanners, and the Pictures In A Flash (PIAF) machine.
- Understand and comply with licencing agreements and copyright laws for publishers/borrowers.
When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
