Position Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join Horizon Minerals at a pivotal stage of our growth journey.
A newly created role, the COO will be responsible for leading and optimising all operational aspects of the Company's mining and processing activities across corporate functions and site operations.
Reporting to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, the COO will work closely with the Board and executive leadership team to deliver the Company's operational strategy and production growth objectives.
The COO will be responsible for leading all operational functions across Horizon's mining, processing, projects and operational support teams with full operational accountability for safety, production and operational performance. The role will ensure the safe, efficient and profitable delivery of operational performance and growth targets.
The COO will be central to translating corporate strategy into clear, executable operating plans and driving operational excellence across the Company's portfolio of assets.
This role will also oversee the operational build-out of Horizon's Black Swan processing hub and will play a key role in ensuring operational readiness and the successful transition to sustainable gold production.

About You
You are a proven C-level operational leader with extensive experience in mining operations and a track record of delivering strong safety, production and financial outcomes in complex operating environments.
You will bring a strategic mindset, strong commercial acumen and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams while maintaining operational discipline and governance.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related mining discipline.
* Post-graduate degree or industry recognised further qualification preferred (MBA or similar), but not essential.
* Proven experience in senior roles in mining and minerals processing, including operational P&L and statutory accountability.
* A history of management and leadership accountability with a demonstrated ability to generate measurable improvements in safety, production and financial performance.
* Experience and responsibility for leading environmental, health and safety systems to ensure safe, compliant and sustainable mining operations.
* Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans, governance frameworks and operating models.
* An analytical and strategic mindset with the ability to appreciate the "big picture"context and effectively translate strategy into practical execution.
* Strong business and financial acumen, negotiation skills, including commercial contract management.
* Demonstrated success in cost control, operational improvement and asset optimisation.
* Good understanding of administrative and reporting processes within a regulated, ASX-listed company environment.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
* Current Driver's Licence.
* Statutory Supervisor, Underground managers (non-coal), Quarry managers (Schedule 26), WA Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations would be advantageous.
Location, Travel and Flexibility
This position will be based at our head office in West Perth with regular site travel.
The COO will be expected to provide visible leadership across Horizon's operations, maintaining a substantial on-site presence to support operational performance, build capability within site teams and strengthen relationships across the Goldfields region.
