Most corporate development roles move money.
This one moves markets.
Welcome to the intersection of ambition and execution, where you'll architect deals that don't just close, they define categories.
This is Freelancer (ASX: FLN, US: FRLCY), and we're not looking for someone who reads about industry transformation in the morning news.
We're looking for the person writing it.
The Playing Field
Freelancer: 13-time Webby winner.
85 million users.
The platform that turned "gig economy" from buzzword to business reality.
Escrow.com: Where $7 billion in trust lives.
Every domain sale, every M&A escrow, every high-stakes transaction that matters.
LoadShift: Disrupting freight with more daily tonnage than SpaceX moves annually.
The Role
50% Corporate Development.
50% Investor Relations.
100% Impact.
You won't just identify opportunities, you'll engineer outcomes.
Working directly with our C-suite, you'll craft the narratives that move markets while building the strategic architecture that captures them.
You belong here if: You see chess moves where others see checkers.
You translate vision into valuation.
You understand that great deals aren't found, they're created through strategic imagination and flawless execution.
Responsibilities
Strategic corporate initiatives: Identify, evaluate, and execute M&A opportunities, strategic partnerships, and corporate transactions that accelerate growth and competitive positioning across our portfolio of platforms.
Investment analysis and deal execution: Build financial models, conduct market analysis, perform due diligence, and coordinate cross-functional teams to evaluate acquisition targets, partnership opportunities, and strategic investments from initial screening through integration.
Lead investor relations excellence: Prepare quarterly earnings releases, annual reports, investor presentations, and ASX disclosures that clearly articulate company performance, strategic direction, and value creation to institutional investors, analysts, and the investment community.
Build strategic relationships: Cultivate connections with investment banks, corporate development counterparts, strategic partners, private equity firms, and industry players to source deal flow and partnership opportunities that align with company objectives.
Conduct competitive intelligence and market analysis: Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, emerging technologies, and market dynamics to identify strategic threats and opportunities, informing executive decision-making on corporate strategy.
Coordinate high-stakes communications supporting earnings calls, investor roadshows, AGMs, and strategic announcements, ensuring flawless execution of materials, presentations, and messaging that reinforce market confidence and shareholder value.
Manage stakeholder engagement: Respond to investor inquiries, coordinate meetings with analysts and institutional investors, maintain the investor relations portal, and ensure transparent, timely communication with the investment community.
Support strategic planning processes: Contribute to long-term strategic planning, business case development for new initiatives, and board presentations on corporate development activities and market opportunities.
Qualifications
3-5+ years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, management consulting, private equity, or investor relations at technology companies or financial institutions with demonstrated track record of deal execution or strategic analysis.
Financial modeling mastery: Build complex valuation models (DCF, comparable company analysis, precedent transactions), perform sensitivity analysis, and present investment recommendations with clear articulation of risks, returns, and strategic rationale.
M&A and transaction experience: Hands-on involvement in deal processes including target identification, due diligence coordination, negotiation support, and integration planning.
Investor relations capability: Understanding of ASX compliance requirements, financial reporting standards, and investor communication best practices, and ability to translate complex business performance into clear narratives for diverse stakeholder audiences.
Analytical excellence: Synthesizing market data, competitive intelligence, financial information, and strategic considerations into actionable insights and recommendations for executive leadership.
Strategic thinking: Seeing beyond individual transactions to understand broader competitive dynamics, industry trends, and how corporate development activities create sustainable competitive advantages.
Exceptional communication skills: Crafting investment memos, board presentations, investor materials, and strategic recommendations with clarity and precision while influencing stakeholders at all levels from analysts to C-suite executives.
Project management capability: Orchestrating multiple workstreams simultaneously, coordinating cross-functional teams (Legal, Finance, Product, Engineering), and driving initiatives forward in fast-paced environments with aggressive timelines.
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Commerce, or related field; MBA, CFA, or CA highly regarded but not required.
Technical proficiency: Excel for financial modeling, PowerPoint for presentations, familiarity with financial databases (Capital IQ, PitchBook, Bloomberg) and valuation methodologies.
