Regional Workshop Support Manager


Port Macquarie, NSW | Immediate Start Available

Bring your leadership, mechanical and management skills to Busways' Port Macquarie depot We're looking for a hands-on and pro-active manager to support workshop operations across the region. You have the chance to make a key difference in the community by ensuring safe and reliable transport services every day

What You'll Be Doing:

In this varied role, you'll assist the Regional Fleet Asset Manager with the day-to-day management of workshop maintenance activities within the region through the following: :

* Investigate and discuss accidents with Operations Manager
* Ensure all workshop safety complies with WH&S standards.
* Equipment maintenance serviced on a regular basis. Ensuring that all workshops are always clean and tidy.
* Assist Workshop Supervisors to follow the Busways systems and procedures.
* Assess workshop staff for additional mechanics, apprentices, and cleaners.
* Arrange apprentice training.
* Check fuel and oil consumption reports. Identify buses that need attention.
* Conduct monthly checks on buses and report any faults to the Supervisor.
* Visits depots within your area on a weekly basis and report any finding to the Regional Manager of the area.
* Assist workshop staff in fault diagnosis. Ensure maintenance on depots is carried out effectively
* Oversee all Workshop Supervisors and ensure the achievement of all contractual and relevant internal KPI's.
* Acting as an escalation point for Workshop Supervisors within the Region and provide support and guidance as needed.
* Perform ad-hoc tasks and other duties as required

What You'll Bring:

Trade qualification, extensive relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

A sound ability to communicate and engage with employees at all levels.

Demonstrated knowledge including, complaint handling, employee relations, work, health and safety, policies and procedures, inclusion and diversity.

Demonstrated problem-solving skills, the capacity to successfully deliver high quality outcomes and meet deadlines.

Leadership capability, experience and demonstrated capacity to coach others

Excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain successful relationships.

Strong attention to detail, organisational and time-management skills

Must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or have working rights in Australia.

Current Australian drivers licence issued by the relevant State

Please Note:
The successful applicant will be offered an initial 12 month fixed-term contract with the intention of then becoming a permanent employee. This is part of Busways hiring policy for all admin roles. Our rate of conversion to permanent positions is over 90%.
