We are seeking a Wilderness Education Assistant to support our Senior School team. This role provides administrative and logistical support to the Wilderness Education Department and involves leading safe, high-quality outdoor activities and programs that engage students with the natural environment.
Employment Overview
* Permanent part-time position
* 30 hours / 4 days per week
* Term time only
* Occasional work outside normal hours, including evenings, weekends, and school holidays
* Commences 22nd January 2026
* Based at Wentworth Falls NSW, with occasional travel to outdoor venues
* Salary in accordance with the Independent Schools CMEA
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with planning, organising, and evaluating outdoor activities, programs, and classes
* Lead or co-lead excursions, overnight trips, expeditions, and camps
* Maintain and manage outdoor equipment
* Ensure health and safety compliance and implement risk management procedures
* Contribute to the development of BMGS's outdoor programs, including camping, Wilderness Education, and Duke of Edinburgh programs
* Participate in Department and Staff Meetings
Requirements
* Outdoor Leadership qualifications (Cert III/IV, Diploma, or equivalent)
* Experience leading activities such as abseiling, climbing, canyoning, caving, bushwalking, mountain biking, canoeing, and alpine-based activities
* Knowledge of Blue Mountains outdoor venues
* Skills in environmental education and practical instruction
* Equipment maintenance experience
* Positive, flexible, and collaborative approach
* Full Australian work rights, current Working With Children Check, and First Aid certificate
