 
        
        Staff Specialist in Rehabilitation Medicine, John Hunter Hospital 
Join to apply for the Staff Specialist in Rehabilitation Medicine role at Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD). 
About The Role 
This position provides consultancy-level clinical services in collaboration with other Rehabilitation Medicine specialists and multidisciplinary teams. You’ll be involved in delivering general and specialist rehabilitation programs, including: 
- Stroke and traumatic brain injury 
- Spinal cord impairment 
- Amputee rehabilitation 
- Complex medical rehabilitation and community transition planning 
Location: John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle NSW 
Employment type: Short term temporary part-time from December until March with possibility of extension. 0.6 FTE (24 hours per week). 
Note: Some rehabilitation services are currently delivered from Maitland Hospital to support continuity of care while the new Acute Services Building at JHH is under construction and scheduled for completion in 2026. 
Our Ideal Candidate 
- Holds Fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians FAFRM (RACP) and registration with AHPRA 
- Demonstrates recent, broad experience in inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation 
- Skilled in developing and implementing rehabilitation goals and discharge plans 
- Familiar with FIM/AROC data collection and its application in clinical practice
