Due to strong project growth in NSW, we are seeking an experienced and highly capable Senior Mechanical / Building Services Engineer to join our Sydney team.
The Opportunity This senior engineering role will lead the design, review, installation oversight, and sign-off for mechanical building services across our NSW projects, including: HVAC (VRF/VRV, chilled water, mechanical ventilation) Plumbing & hydraulic systems Mechanical building services for commercial & industrial sites You will be responsible for ensuring all mechanical services meet NSW building regulations, NCC/BCA, and all relevant NSW Fire Safety and hydraulic codes.
Key Responsibilities Lead design and documentation of HVAC, plumbing, hydraulics, and fire systems for NSW commercial and industrial buildings.
Perform heat-load, air handling, pump and pipe sizing, static pressure, and flow calculations.
Prepare and sign engineering design packages (Form ***** equivalent NSW documentation where applicable).
Use Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP, CAMEL/HAP, WaterCAD and other tools to deliver full mechanical design documentation.
Oversee mechanical services installation across Sydney sites.
Ensure compliance with NSW Building Code, NCC Vol.
1, local council requirements, and AS/NZS standards including: AS/NZS **** (plumbing & drainage) Conduct inspections, commissioning, performance validation and system sign-off.
Coordinate with NSW building certifiers, fire safety assessors, hydraulic consultants, councils and service trades.
Prepare O&M manuals, ITPs, commissioning plans, defect reports and compliance documentation.
Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
CPEng and/or eligibility to become an NSW Registered Professional Engineer (under the NSW Design & Building Practitioners Act – Mechanical).
Minimum 5 years' experience in building services (HVAC, plumbing, fire).
Strong familiarity with NSW building approvals process and dealings with building certifiers.
Proficient with one of: Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP, CAMEL / HAP, WaterCAD / EPANET Strong understanding of NCC/BCA (NSW requirements), Fire Safety Schedules, and Annual Fire Safety Statements (AFSS) obligations.
Current NSW Manual Driver Licence.
White Card (Construction Induction).
Experience with Sydney commercial fitouts, industrial upgrades, or refurbishment projects.
Background in fire system certification, FPAS, or coordination with fire safety practitioners.
