Change and Communication Officer - Major Transformation Program Location: Adelaide Contract Type: 6-month contract, ASAP start Salary: $65 per hour, plus super Seeking an experienced Change and Communication Officer to support a large, multi-year transformation program within a high-profile government agency.
The program focuses on uplifting critical systems by transitioning legacy technology into modern, fit-for-purpose solutions.
As part of a dedicated Change team, you will play a key role in shaping how the organisation communicates, prepares and supports its workforce through significant system and process change.
This is a critical, fast-moving program with strong executive visibility and state-wide impact.
The Opportunity As the Change and Communication Officer, you will design, develop and deliver clear, engaging and accessible communication and training materials to support stakeholder readiness throughout the program lifecycle.
Working closely with the Change Lead, Change Analyst, Program leadership and corporate communications teams, you'll ensure consistent messaging, fit-for-purpose collateral and seamless execution across internal and external channels.
Your work will directly contribute to successful adoption, stakeholder engagement and organisational readiness for change.
Key Responsibilities Support the development and maintenance of the program communications plan.
Create high-quality communication assets (emails, newsletters, intranet content, presentations, infographics, FAQs, guides).
Develop training materials such as quick reference guides, briefing packs and user tip sheets.
Translate complex technical information into clear, plain-English messages.
Ensure consistent branding, tone, formatting and accessibility across all collateral.
Coordinate communication and approval workflows with program and corporate teams.
Work with marketing/communications teams to design, produce, schedule and publish content.
Publish communications across intranet, email, program webpages and other digital channels.
Monitor engagement and recommend improvements based on feedback and metrics.
Support change-related events and workshops with communication materials and follow-ups.
Maintain a version-controlled repository of communication assets and templates.
Align all communications with stakeholder impacts and the overall change plan.
Ensure materials meet government accessibility, privacy, security and governance standards.
About You Mandatory Minimum five years' experience in a Change or Corporate Communications role.
Essential Experience delivering communications for IT, transformation or large-scale change programs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information.
Strong design capability and experience creating visual communication and training materials.
Proficient in MS Office, especially PowerPoint and Visio (or similar tools).
Experience using modern design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express, Copilot).
Strong understanding of communication channels and how to apply them effectively.
Desirable Knowledge of change management frameworks and practices.
Experience in IT transformation, system migration or decommissioning programs (legacy/mainframe exposure highly regarded).
Experience working with marketing/branding teams or within structured content governance environments.
