Position Title: Maintenance Manager - Ballarat

About The Role.

Our Maintenance team in Ballarat is looking for an experienced & passionate Maintenance Manager to cover day-to-day maintenance engineering issues, defect elimination, risk management and life cycle asset management aspects of reliability engineering best practices.

This role is an integral member of a cross functional site leadership team and will see you contribute to the implementation of capital projects.

What You'll Be Doing.

Support and promote continuous improvement across the organisation.
Ensure plant and equipment comply with standards and legislation.
Contribute to and support implementation of McCain Foods Safety Plans.
Define annual maintenance needs for budget planning.
Promote safety awareness among employees and contractors.
Provide input on site projects and ensure safe labour allocation.
Demonstrate understanding of key maintenance functions and coach direct reports on their duties.
Champion a workplace culture where trade teams are empowered to proactively identify challenges through robust Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement effective solutions, fostering greater autonomy, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Drive accountability and performance improvement within highly unionised and skilled trade environments.

About You.

Degree qualified in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related disciple — or trade certificate in mechanical/electrical (relevant licenses highly regarded).
A minimum of 10 years supervisory or management experience, including at least 3 years as a manager in a unionised industrial environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships at all levels.
Demonstrated success in supporting, coaching and developing staff through effective mentoring, balanced delegation, and hands-on leadership.
Confident and timely in independent decision-making and timely issue resolution.
Effective workload organisation and time management.
Experience leading team culture change, fostering continuous improvement and accountability.
Proactive problem-solving mindset.
Ability to prepare and manage multi-million-dollar budgets.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP systems.
