Residential Care Manager Role
Life Without Barriers is seeking a Residential Care Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Youth Residential Care programs in Hobart.
This hands-on role involves working closely with a team of residential support workers to provide purposeful support to young people in residential care, with high and complex needs. You will lead your team to create a secure base for our young people within the home, liaising with culturally appropriate services, and providing opportunities for them to connect with their culture.
The successful candidate will have experience working with children and young people who have experienced trauma and disadvantage, as well as managing and leading a team. They will be able to manage crises and critical issues, and deal with complex and challenging situations.
We are looking for someone who can foster growth and resilience in our young people, and ensure that they feel safe and supported in our care.
About The Role
This is a Permanent Full Time position, with access to salary packaging. The Residential Care Manager will be responsible for:
* BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS WITH CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE THROUGH VISIBLE INTEREST AND ACTIVE ENGAGEMENT.
* E nsuring the home is a place that is emotionally and physically safe, nurturing, and appropriately engaging and stimulating, to foster growth and resilience.
* M anaging, supporting and providing reflective supervision and team meetings to a team of residential workers, and lead staff to work as a team in the best interests of children and young people.
* S upporting staff to apply the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention system (TCI) to prevent, de-escalate and respond to crisis incidents involving children and young people.
* C oordinating the intake and transition of new children and young people into the home and the exit of children and young people to permanent homes or step-down services.
* E nsuring the CIRTS database is up to date with all client information.
Skills And Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
* A minimum Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or relevant qualification.
* Experience working with children and young people who have experienced trauma and disadvantage.
* Experience in the co-ordination and management of 24-hour residential services for vulnerable people.
* Demonstrated experience in managing and leading a team.
* Demonstrated capacity to manage crises and critical issues and deal with complex and challenging situations.
* A current Unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence.
* First Aid and CPR Certificates (or willingness to obtain if successful).
* Completed Safe Environments training or willingness to complete before commencement (essential).
* Willingness to undergo psychological assessment (essential).
* Excellent written and oral communication skills including strong interpersonal skills, use of Microsoft Office packages.
