The Director Commercial Services, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for leading Council’s Waste & Resource Recovery, Water & Wastewater, and Fleet Services functions.
This role provides strong, decisive leadership to deliver high-performing, customer-focused and commercially driven services that support a sustainable and thriving community. You will build organisational capability across diverse operational teams, ensuring services are delivered professionally, efficiently, and in line with Council’s strategic priorities.
As a trusted advisor, the Director provides high-level strategic guidance and informed advice to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, and Council, contributing to sound decision-making and the delivery of essential community services.
About You
* Degree level qualifications and extensive experience in a field associated with the responsibilities of the position (this includes candidates with qualifications and experience related to business development and/or finance).
* Demonstrated experience at a senior executive level leading, managing and inspiring a highly diverse team of professional staff and achieving planned outcomes while also achieving high employee engagement and satisfaction scores.
* Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of a strategic vision and direction in a division and/or organisation.
* Demonstrated high quality leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate staff and drive cultural change which delivers a high performance, collaborative and cooperative team-based culture
* Demonstrated high level commercial and operational experience including demonstrated experience developing and monitoring budgets and service delivery performance
* Demonstrated high level communication and relationship building skills that have maintained strong working relationships with key stakeholders within the business and externally
* Strategic thinking skills and the ability to analyse data and information, interpret and present strategic findings and recommendations at a senior executive and Council level
* An inquisitive, agile and flexible mindset with proven ability to understand systems and processes and seek continuous improvement and innovation in the tools used to deliver products and services to customers and meet their needs.
