We're expanding and there is a new opportunity for an energetic Business Development Manager to drive growth and deliver exceptional client experiences across two premium venues: the Lakeside Hotel & Conference Centre and Macquarie University City Campus. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to drive sales, elevate client engagement, and support exceptional event outcomes.
About the Role
This is a new, key leadership role responsible for building revenue, developing and strengthening client relationships across two dynamic, high‑profile venues. This role presents a great opportunity for a motivated individual with proven experience & networks to join and own the growth of the events & catering segment of our organisation. You'll lead event sales, build strong client relationships, and oversee the delivery of conferences, meetings, and activations. You'll generate new business, manage key accounts, and work closely with internal teams to ensure high‑quality event outcomes.
Key Accountabilities
Actively seek and generate new leads and develop a strong pipeline of conference and event business.
In conjunction with the Chief Operating Officer, develop and implement sales plans to increase utilisation and drive revenue growth across Macquarie University campuses.
Monitor and analyse market intelligence and develop strategies to mitigate or leverage external market factors to promote the facilities.
Collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure events are planned and delivered in line with client expectations.
Due to the new and collaborative nature of this role, we're looking for someone who can be based onsite. This will help you connect quickly with key stakeholders and immerse yourself in the work from day one. We do support flexible working as needs arise.

You're a confident and motivated sales professional who thrives in a fast‑paced hospitality environment. You build rapport easily, enjoy creating meaningful connections, and bring a proactive, results‑driven approach to everything you do. You're comfortable taking the lead, coaching others, and finding smart solutions to challenges as they arise. Above all, you bring energy, professionalism, and a customer‑first mindset to every interaction.

Selection criteria
Proven experience in business development, conferences/events, and sales within the hotel or wider hospitality sector.
Strong sales capability with a consistent record of achieving and exceeding targets.
Excellent influencing, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.
Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, and developing high‑performing teams.
Strong commercial acumen with a solid understanding of financial principles.
Ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and environments.
