About This Opportunity

The University is seeking motivated and conscientious Anatomy Mortuary Technicians, including a Anatomy Mortuary Technician (Embalmer), to support teaching, learning and research activities involving human cadavers within the Gross Anatomy Facility (GAF). These roles are central to the safe, ethical and effective operation of anatomy teaching spaces. Working as part of a close-knit technical team, you will collaborate with academic staff, students, researchers and external users in a dynamic and highly regulated environment where no two days are the same.

The Anatomy Mortuary Technician (Embalmer) role requires formal embalming qualifications and registration and will be responsible for undertaking embalming procedures. Applicants without embalming qualifications are encouraged to apply for the standard Anatomy Mortuary Technician role.

Above all, we are looking for people who are a strong team fit, individuals who communicate openly, support one another, and bring professionalism, care and emotional intelligence to their work.

* Maintain the organisation, cleanliness and security of the Gross Anatomy Facility
* Prepare and ensure the timely availability of teaching specimens for scheduled practical classes
* Assist with cadaver embalming, specimen preparation (including sectioning) and ongoing specimen care
* Support staff and students to comply with Queensland occupational health and safety legislation and University OH&S procedures
* Undertake general facility maintenance, cleaning and equipment upkeep
* Prepare materials and facilities for external user groups, including outside normal business hours when required
* Provide accurate information on the quantity, quality and use of anatomical specimens
* Assist with maintaining risk assessments and associated databases within anatomy teaching facilities
* Contribute to the effective day-to-day operation of the facility and support the GAF Manager as required
