**Overnight Crisis Accommodation for At-Risk Youth**
A safe environment is provided for young people aged 14-17 years old who are at risk of homelessness.
About the Role
We are seeking skilled Residential Support Workers with experience working with vulnerable young people. The role involves creating a caring atmosphere, assisting individuals to manage their emotions and develop essential life skills.
The service operates overnight from 5pm until 10am the following day, offering flexible shifts including morning, evening, and wakeful periods.
Responsibilities
* Establish rapport with young people to achieve positive outcomes.
* Manage behaviour escalations, assisting individuals to regulate their emotions.
* Communicate effectively with the care team and report incidents promptly and accurately.
* Perform domestic duties, including meal preparation, laundry assistance, cleaning, and preparing the service for evening intake.
* Maintain progress notes and records.
Requirements
* Experience working with young people who have faced significant trauma and neglect, including managing challenging behaviours.
* Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills when interacting with young people and stakeholders.
* Showcase confidentiality and possess a strong understanding of professional boundaries.
* Have experience working with young people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
* Possess a relevant qualification, such as Certificate in Youth Work or Mental Health (or be willing to work towards qualifications).
* Hold a current First Aid Certificate (obtained prior to commencing employment).
Candidates will need to clear probity checks, including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check.
