The Cost Manager is a central role for Melbourne Airport's Third Runway (M3R) team, responsible for the overall cost and budget reporting of the project. The role focuses on budget guidance, cost performance tracking, cash flow analysis, and interface with contractors.
Key responsibilities
* Review and analyse monthly contractor progress payment claims, taking into account actual progress.
* Preparation of draft contractor payment certificates each month.
* Compile monthly cost forecasts for the whole of project including contractor and Principal costs. Provide commentary on movements and variances, and any changes in terms of budget and timing.
* Provide analysis of any submitted variation costs.
* Prepare costings for options, variation proposals or scenario impacts.
* Prepare detailed cash flow analysis in conjunction with the commercial team, and provide analysis of cash movements.
Qualifications
* Substantial experience in large civil infrastructure projects, coming from a QS or Cost Engineering background.
* Previous experience in budget control, cash flow management or forecasting and estimating would be suitable, as would an understanding the cost drivers and issues that arise in typical large earthworks or civil infrastructure projects.
* An understanding of project overhead costs, design costs and personnel costs is required.
* Experience of working contractor side would be useful, and demonstrated ability in supporting a client side or Principal's role in a D&C environment would be ideal.
