Job Description
Your Purpose:
As a Recreation Coordinator, you will assess, design, and implement therapeutic recreation programs tailored to meet the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional needs of our clients. By fostering community connections and advocating for the benefits of recreational therapy, you'll help clients achieve independence and improved quality of life.
What You'll Do
* Client Assessment and Evaluation
* Conduct comprehensive leisure assessments and communicate findings to clients, families, and care teams.
* Evaluate progress toward therapeutic goals and adapt plans accordingly.
* Therapeutic Program Development
* Develop and deliver individualized, client-centered recreation interventions.
* Ensure programs are inclusive, culturally appropriate, and aligned with clients' goals.
* Collaboration and Advocacy
* Work with inter-professional teams to deliver holistic care.
* Advocate for therapeutic recreation within healthcare and community settings.
* Documentation and Reporting
* Maintain accurate, professional records and share updates with stakeholders.
* Community Engagement
* Connect clients to community-based recreational services and foster community participation.

Desired Skills And Experience
* Qualifications & Requirements:
* Essential:
* Bachelor of Health Science (Leisure & Health) or Bachelor of Health Science (Therapeutic Recreation).
* Diploma of Leisure & Health or equivalent qualifications.
* Proven leadership and teamwork skills.
* Proficient communication and documentation abilities.
* Experience as a Recreational Activities Officer or Lifestyle Officer is advantageous.
* Desirable:
* Experience in dementia-specific care.
* Certificate IV in Leisure & Health or current enrolment in the program.
