Location: Melbourne, VIC
Specialised Management Group is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to support operations within a biotech GMP facility in Melbourne. This short-term contract role will focus on managing mechanical maintenance activities across critical facility infrastructure supporting regulated manufacturing environments.
This position offers the opportunity to work within a leading biotech GMP facility, supporting highly critical infrastructure and advanced cleanroom systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage preventative and corrective maintenance programs for facility mechanical systems
* Ensure GMP compliance of mechanical infrastructure and maintenance practices
* Manage contractors, service providers, and internal maintenance personnel
* Plan and coordinate maintenance activities and shutdown works
* Support reliability improvement initiatives and root cause analysis
* Maintain asset records, work orders, and spare parts management within CMMS systems
* Support GMP audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance requirements
Mechanical Systems Scope
The role will oversee maintenance management for a broad range of facility systems including:
* HVAC and cleanroom environmental systems
* Chilled water and process cooling systems
* Boilers and steam systems
* Compressed air systems
* Pumps, pipework and process mechanical equipment
* Building mechanical services
* Interface with BMS / building automation systems
Required Experience
* Must have valid working rights in Australia
* 3–7 years' experience in mechanical engineering within facility or maintenance environments
* Experience working within GMP or regulated facilities
* Experience using CMMS platforms (e.g., Maximo, SAP, Infor or similar)
* Experience managing contractors and internal maintenance teams
Preferred Experience
* Cleanroom HVAC systems
* Pharmaceutical / biotech process utilities
* Steam and clean steam systems
* WFI / purified water systems
* BMS / building automation systems
Work Schedule
* Monday–Friday
* Occasional after-hours support may be required for critical maintenance activities.
