About the role

The Senior Technical SEO Specialist – Automation focuses on programmatic SEO and automation. They identify and validate opportunities through data‑driven experimentation and help deliver successful SEO products that raise organic search and answer engine visibility. The role combines deep technical SEO expertise with software development and automation skills, advising the business on strategic, tactical, and technical improvements across the Envato group of websites. Working cross‑functionally, they ensure smooth implementation of SEO initiatives that improve site performance, discoverability, and scalability.

The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in software development frameworks, scripting, data processing, machine learning, and GenAI tools to design and execute automated SEO solutions efficiently.

What you'll be doing

- Integrate internal and 3rd‑party data to generate insights and data sources for use in our sites.
- Implement automation that delivers measurable efficiency gains, with awareness of when additional automation yields limited benefit.
- Identify opportunities to test SEO theory and practice, execute data‑driven SEO experimentation.
- Identify opportunities to grow traffic and engagement in line with business success metrics.
- Identify and mitigate risks to existing traffic and engagement.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure new releases adhere to due‑diligence processes and SEO best practice.
- Provide technical SEO and automation subject‑matter expertise to internal teams and act as the internal lead and advocate for programmatic SEO and automation initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on ad‑hoc requests.
- Provide internal reporting as required.
- Be aware and accountable to your responsibilities in relation to workplace health and safety obligations.
- Other reasonable activities, tasks or responsibilities that may be required.

About you

- 5+ years experience in technical SEO, ideally in eCommerce or at a marketplace.
- 2+ years experience in programmatic SEO.
- Software development background with experience in automation, scripting, data processing, and use of GenAI tools for information processing and development.
- Deep understanding of technical aspects of content discovery, crawling, rendering, and ranking.
- Deep understanding of current web development technologies and how to utilise them to implement fully technical SEO‑compliant web pages.
- Demonstrable experience implementing SEO strategies on enterprise‑scale websites (100K+ pages).
- Strong analytical capabilities, including good understanding of both eCommerce and organic search KPIs.
- Self‑starter with experience working with multiple stakeholders to achieve positive results.
- Inquisitive mindset and willingness to learn and try new things.
- Proven ability to design and run SEO experiments, validate results statistically, and translate findings into production changes.

Desirable

- Exposure to international SEO.
- Experience in the domain of trading in creative assets or other digital products.
- Experience in SEO tools API integrations.
- Exposure to ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines for data automation.
- Experience in scripted web crawling of large websites.
- Strong understanding of adjacent marketing channels (social, affiliate, paid) and how they interact with organic search.
