We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

We are currently seeking compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Education Assistants to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting students with additional needs, helping them to develop confidence, independence, and a strong sense of belonging. You'll work closely with teachers, families, and other professionals to deliver individualised support that fosters academic, emotional, and social growth.

The Role
Suitable applicants would play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse and additional needs to engage fully in their learning and personal development. Working in close collaboration with teachers, families, and therapists, you wwould help create an inclusive, respectful, and nurturing learning environment where every student can thrive.
In this role, the suitable applicants apply their experience in working with students who require individualised support across a range of academic, behavioural, and social-emotional needs. You would draw on a deep understanding of inclusive education practices and use adaptive strategies tailored to each student's unique profile, learning style, and goals.
Suitable applicants support the development and implementation of personalised learning and behaviour plans, using data and behaviour tracking tools to inform targeted interventions. Your ability to observe, record, and respond to student behaviour thoughtfully and consistently will be key to supporting student growth, independence, and wellbeing.
As part of a collaborative and reflective team, you will ideally:
* Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with additional learning needs.
* Adapt teaching strategies, communication methods, and learning materials to support individual students' engagement and progress.
* Implement Individual Plans in partnership with the teaching team.
* Monitor and track student behaviour using consistent strategies and data tools, contributing to the development of effective support plans.
* Promote a positive, inclusive classroom climate that values and celebrates diversity.
* Foster student confidence, self-regulation, and independence in both learning and social settings.
* Engage in ongoing professional learning and contribute to a school culture of high expectations, care, and collaboration.

2. A two (2) page statement addressing the following selection criteria as outlined in the attached JDF
* Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
* Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
* Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
* Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
* Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
* Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
