The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an **Employment Pathway Broker** to provide a critical role within Justice Services.
**About the Business Unit**
Justice Services is responsible for the direction, management, and operation of Victoria's Community Correctional Services (CCS) across more than 35 locations. It ensures that individuals are safely managed in the community and aims to rehabilitate people in care by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
**About the Role**
The purpose of the Employment Pathway Broker is to establish and maintain partnerships (and supportive governance structures) with organisations that deliver education, training and employment programs and services locally and regionally in the community, as well as industry groups interested in employing offenders. There is expectation that these partnerships assist effective delivery of initiatives within Corrections Victoria's Offender Employment Pathway Framework, primarily by improving access for offenders sentenced to community-based orders to programs/services with capacity to improve their employment outcomes.
Establishing and maintaining effective multi-sector partnerships is complex. It critically depends on establishing strong working relationships between key individuals, often from different professional backgrounds and working cultures. Given this, effective partnerships often take considerable effort and time to establish. They also need on-going support and attention to ensure they are robust, enduring and result in demonstrable benefits to all participating organisations (and clients).
The role is based at Dandenong GSO but works across the South Area (South East Metro Region and Gippsland).
Some of your duties will include:
- Proactively develop and maintain partnership arrangements with organisations that deliver education, training and employment services for individuals in the community (and with employers committed to providing employment opportunities to offenders).
- Develop and maintain formal governance structures in support of established partnerships.
- Ensure accurate, clear and appropriate communication with partners and internal stakeholders to ensure there is a common understanding of and commitment to jointly agreed initiatives.
