Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer to act as the architect of our end‑to‑end manufacturing ecosystem.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role is accountable for ensuring our Front‑End (shop drawings, BOMs, ERP data and production planning) and Back‑End (factory layout, capacity, labour and execution) operate as one integrated, high‑efficiency system.
You will work closely with the Information Systems Manager, Production Manager and Head of Design, and lead a small team of engineers to eliminate disconnects between design intent, planning assumptions and shop‑floor reality. The focus is on building a manufacturing operation that is predictable, scalable and commercially disciplined.
This is a senior, hands‑on role suited to someone equally comfortable analysing data and being on the factory floor driving real outcomes.
-----------------------------------
Core Responsibilities
This role combines analytical rigour with strong factory‑floor engagement.
1. End‑to‑End Process & Systems Optimisation
2. Design, optimise and govern the end‑to‑end manufacturing system from engineering release through to physical execution
3. Identify and eliminate production bottlenecks across people, process, systems and layout
4. Ensure workflows are repeatable, predictable and scalable as volumes and product mix change
5. Design systems that prevent problems rather than relying on downstream fixes
6. Front‑End Engineering & ERP Integrity
7. Audit and optimise the lifecycle of Shop Drawings, ensuring clean handover from Design Engineering to Production
8. Cleanse, restructure and govern Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the ERP to ensure accuracy in ordering, kitting and assembly
9. Redesign Work Orders and Picking Slips to minimise search time, clerical errors and rework
10. Ensure front‑end data structures reflect real factory constraints and execution logic
11. Upstream Procurement & Production Planning
12. Work with Procurement to align raw material supply with production takt time, reducing excess inventory and shortages
13. Develop level‑loaded production schedules to eliminate feast‑or‑famine cycles
14. Translate demand signals into stable, executable production plans
15. Factory Floor Optimisation
16. Lead Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to eliminate non‑value‑added activity
17. Design and optimise factory layouts, work cells and material flows
18. Implement kitting and internal logistics strategies to reduce motion, errors and cycle time
19. Improve labour productivity through better work design, not headcount increases
20. Quality, Cost & Asset Reliability
21. Design quality‑at‑source systems that prevent defects
22. Reduce waste across materials, energy, labour and time
23. Oversee equipment health strategies, including predictive and preventative maintenance
24. Improve overall equipment effectiveness through system design
25. Leadership & Team Management
26. Lead, mentor and develop a small team of Industrial Engineers
27. Set clear KPIs, priorities and performance expectations
28. Manage the engineering budget and prioritise initiatives based on ROI and factory impact
29. Build a high‑performance, execution‑focused engineering culture
30. Continuous Improvement Program Ownership
31. Design and own the factory's Continuous Improvement roadmap
32. Apply and embed Lean, Kaizen, 5S and Six Sigma methodologies
33. Train and influence teams at all levels to drive sustained improvement
34. Ensure CI delivers measurable business outcomes
Skills, Experience & Tools
* Degree qualified in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or similar
* 8+ years industrial or production engineering within a manufacturing environment
* Strong practical experience with Lean Manufacturing / CI methodologies
* High ERP literacy and appreciation of data integrity
* Experience using CAD tools (e.g. AutoCAD, Inventor) for layouts, tooling or workflow design
* Commercial mindset with the ability to prioritise work based on impact
* Demonstrated use of AI or advanced analytics to improve engineering, planning, quality or productivity will be highly regarded
