Wood Machinist – Dry Mill / Timber Processing
We're looking for a trade-qualified Wood Machinist to join our timber processing operation. This hands-on role suits someone experienced in machining kiln-dried timber on high-output equipment, with a strong focus on accuracy, recovery, and safe production.
What you'll be doing:
* Operating and setting up a range of woodworking machines including multi-rip, cross-cut, planer/moulder, docking and edging equipment
* Producing precision-machined timber components to required profiles and tolerances
* Assessing timber quality, managing defects, and maximising recovery
* Monitoring moisture content and dimensional stability of dry timber
* Completing test runs, tooling changes, and adjustments for different products and species
* Carrying out routine maintenance, cleaning, and basic fault reporting
* Performing measurements and quality checks, recording results, and isolating non-conforming material
* Working safely at all times in line with site procedures, PPE, and compliance requirements
What you'll bring:
* Trade qualification in Wood Machining, Sawmilling, Joinery, or Carpentry
* Experience in a dry mill or industrial timber processing environment
* Confidence operating high-speed production machinery
* Strong mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail to produce high quality outputs
* Ability to read cutting lists, production schedules, and profiles
* A team-focused approach with good communication skills
Highly regarded:
* Experience with optimising scanners or grading systems
* Forklift or loader licence
* Knowledge of timber grading rules or continuous-flow production lines
Work environment:
* Physically active role requiring standing and manual handling
* Noisy, dust-controlled industrial setting
* Shift work and overtime may be required
