Founded as The Wayside Foundation in 1970, The Ted Noffs Foundation delivers frontline services and community support across NSW, ACT & QLD, helping young people affected by drugs, crime and mental health with over 200 staff and 350 volunteers.
Role Overview
The Engagement Worker will lead creative workshops and activities for at‐risk young people aged 12‐25 at The Street University Canberra, focusing on arts, music, dance, spoken word, rap, performance and events.
Responsibilities
* Promote meaningful engagement for young people through programs and workshops.
* Develop individualized engagement action plans for each client.
* Acquire local knowledge and develop meaningful dialogue with young people.
* Develop and maintain varied programs of sports, creative arts and recreational activities.
* Collaborate with young people to ensure their ideas shape planning and delivery of sessions, projects and activities.
* Provide targeted interventions and support guided by Therapeutic Crisis Intervention principles where appropriate.
* Supervise and evaluate volunteers who run workshops.
* Develop effective working partnerships with local and national statutory, commercial and voluntary organisations.
* Seek opportunities to form further community partnerships and programs.
* Maintain accurate records and prepare high‐quality reports.
* Manage day‐to‐day operations of the centre.
* Attend and actively participate in relevant meetings.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience working with young people, preferably those with alcohol and other drug-related difficulties.
* Experience in a community development setting.
* Initiative, creativity and practical life skills to organize positive group programs and activities.
* Ability to develop, maintain and build positive relationships with key stakeholders.
* Proven organisational skills and ability to multi‐task with attention to detail, accuracy and deadlines.
* Proficiency in Client Management Systems.
* Commitment to harm minimisation principles and the aims of the Ted Noffs Foundation.
* Current and valid ACT Working With Vulnerable People card and Driver's Licence with a good driving record.
* Good understanding of Logic Pro Recording Software and ability to set up equipment for recording sessions and concerts.
