Great prospect to join a successful Engineering business in the eastern suburbs. This well-established company designs and manufactures components and tooling for various industries and uses the latest technology. We are looking for a permanent full-time designer that specialises in press Tools and other tooling.
As a Tool designer you will be responsible for creating the designs for tools used in metal stamping and forming processes, ensuring they meet production needs, are manufacturable and cost-effective. You will utilise CAD software to develop detailed drawings and models, collaborating with engineers and production personnel throughout the process.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Development: Designing press tools, including die layouts, fixtures, and other components, based on product specifications and production requirements.
- CAD Modeling: Creating detailed 2D and 3D models and drawings using CAD software, ensuring accuracy and manufacturability.
- Collaboration: Working closely with engineers, production managers, and machinists.
- Component Feasibility: Assessing the feasibility of designs.
- Process Improvement: Identifying opportunities to optimize manufacturing processes and improve tool performance through design modifications.
- Documentation: Creating and maintaining accurate documentation, including bills of materials, specifications, and design changes.
- Quality Control: Ensuring that tools meet quality standards and comply with relevant regulations and customer requirements.
TO APPLY YOU SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:
- CAD Proficiency: Strong skills in using CAD software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar, for both 2D and 3D design.
- Mechanical Engineering Knowledge: Understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze design challenges and develop effective solutions.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of design and documentation.
- Knowledge of Tooling: Understanding of different types of press tools, their applications, and manufacturing processes.
