Description Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for leading work-winning teams and delivering accurate, high-quality estimates? Downer is seeking an experienced Business Development and Estimating Manager based out of Eastern Creek, NSW. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for securing future work and supporting the achievement of planned workload and revenue targets. This hands on role will drive tender strategy, lead client engagement and position the business for success across key infrastructure opportunities. While estiamting expertise is important the primary focus of the role is on market engagement, bid leadership and converting opportunities into profitable projects. Key responsibilities Lead the work-winning process, from opportunity qualification through to tender submission and contract award. Act as a key point of contact for clients, building trusted relationships and understanding future pipelines and needs. Shape tender strategies, value propositions and commercial positions to maximise success and margin. Oversee estimating inputs to ensure commercial accuracy, risk awareness and alignment with bid strategy. Present tender submissions and commercial positions to senior leadership and clients as required. Lead and mentor the estimating team, fostering collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement. What you’ll bring Demonstrated experience in business development, work winning or pre-contracts leadership, ideally within civil, asphalt or road infrastructure. Strong commerical accumen with the ability to identify, qualify and convert opportunities. Sound estimating experience, including engagement with first principles estimates and risk pricing. Proven ability to build and maintain senior client relationships and industry networks. Confident communicator with experience influencing both internal stakeholders and external clients. Strategic mindset, combined with attention to detail and a genuine passion for winning work. Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Benchmark estimation software desirable.
