The Role
As the financial lead for one of Australia's most recognisable household names in children's publishing, you will be responsible for the stewardship of a major national operation, fulfilling the roles of Company Secretary and Public Officer. Following the retirement of a long-standing incumbent, we are looking for a commercial leader who can marry rigorous financial oversight with a passion for business growth and process improvement.
This broad, hands-on leadership role reports to the Managing Director in Australia with direct financial reporting responsibilities to the VP, Finance and Operations International in the USA. Leading a large in-house Finance team consisting of Corporate Accountant, AP, AR, Payroll, Financial Accountants, Business Analyst, and Royalties, you will manage the full spectrum of financial responsibilities. This includes: monthly and yearly financial reporting and auditing, Tax, Capex and budget forecast submission, legal matters across leasing, contracts and royalties and the strategic guidance necessary to drive supply chain enhancement and business process improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Executive Financial Leadership: Direct all financial operations for the 500 employee strong Australian business unit, ensuring excellence in reporting, compliance, and internal controls. Bridge the gap between local operational needs and global reporting requirements, ensuring seamless communication with the parent company. Lead, inspire, and grow a dedicated finance and accounting team, ensuring a culture of high performance and professional development.
* Asset & Relationship Management: Take the lead on critical external pillars including banking facilities, insurance portfolios, and real estate interests.
* Strategic Business Management: Act as a key advisor on a variety of business-wide initiatives, ranging from major infrastructure projects to digital and commercial transformations.
* Commercial Counsel: Provide the Managing Director and the board with clear, actionable insights that drive sustainable business performance.
About You
* The Leader: A CA/CPA qualified professional with a career defined by stability and impact within business operations. You likely have experience as a CFO or Finance Director in a large-scale enterprise.
* The Generalist: You are as comfortable discussing property leases and insurance premiums as you are overseeing a complex statutory audit.
