HNELHD facilitates a WBA program and has extensive experience in delivering it. The WBA runs over 6 months and is based in Newcastle with a regional hub in Tamworth. The role supports 4 FTE Paediatric Consultants, 1 FTE Provisional Fellow, 1 FTE Advanced Trainee, 2 FTE Unaccredited Trainees, and 2 FTE Junior Medical Officers.
What you’ll be doing
The Trainee will provide supervised learning in Community and General Paediatrics at Tamworth Hospital. The Advanced Trainee will be in an accredited Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) training program within the Paediatric Department of Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital. Responsibilities include providing comprehensive services to routine and emergency paediatric inpatients, and working as part of a multidisciplinary team while supervising junior medical officers and students. The Trainee will participate in clinical meetings and teaching and will be subject to training and performance reviews. The role may involve outreach clinics and on-call support to patients in the region.

Qualifications
- Qualifications commensurate with the essential requirements for the role and relevant experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with leadership and direction for patient management.
- Recent medical experience in Paediatrics, Emergency Medicine, or related field.
- Ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment with sound clinical skills and judgment.
- Strong time management, problem-solving, and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management.
- Evidence of continuing career development and willingness to teach junior medical officers.
- Willingness to work at facilities within the Hunter New England Local Health District and to drive a standard motor vehicle in NSW.
