The Neurology Social Work position is based in the Cancer and Chronic Care Team at Westmead Hospital. 
You will provide a high standard of care to patients and families while working in a supportive department that values professional growth, career development, and a positive team culture. 
Westmead is undergoing redevelopment and sits within a large health, education, research, and training precinct. 
What You'll Be Doing 
The Cancer and Chronic Care Team at Westmead comprises 14 social workers covering Inpatient and Outpatient Oncology, Haematology, Bone Marrow Transplant, CAR-T Cell Therapy, Palliative Care, Respiratory, SMART, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Cystic Fibrosis, Infections Diseases and general Mixed Medical areas. 
While assigned to Neurology clinical load, there are opportunities to broaden your skill development through team coverage and After Hours Crisis On Call work.

Essential Criteria 
- Qualification: Degree in Social Work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW). 
Selection Criteria 
- Demonstrated understanding of psychosocial issues associated with acute and chronic illness. 
- Demonstrated capacity to provide counselling and case management for patients/families with illness adjustment, complex discharge issues and end of life care. 
- Demonstrated clinical experience or understanding of the psychosocial impact of grief, loss and bereavement. 
- Demonstrated understanding of issues associated with working with a culturally and linguistically diverse client group. 
- Well-developed time management skills with excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing. 
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team. 
- Knowledge of quality assurance and/or clinical practice improvement activities. 
- Participation in the After Hours Crisis On Call Social Work Service.
