About the role
The organisation is seeking to appoint a dynamic, skilled and professional Chief Executive Officer to lead and guide strategic, financial, and operational activities across the organisation. This is an important period in Gateway's journey and provides an outstanding opportunity to build the future organisation.
Reporting to the Board of Management, the key responsibilities of the Chief Executive Officer role are to:
- Work collaboratively with the Board, providing high level guidance and advice on organisational issues, strategic direction and sector trends, demands and changes
- Support and develop the people and culture of the organisation as the basis of providing clients with quality services
- Lead and develop a team of skilled Executive Managers whilst ensuring appropriate capability in order to ensure delivery of the operational and strategic requirements of the organisation
- Drive organisation improvement including through continual improvement, identified initiatives and by exploring synergies and opportunities between organisations
- Keep abreast of sector and related legislative changes and ensure the organisation responds adequately to maintain compliance and contemporary practice
- Execution of the strategic plan by establishment of relevant organisational objectives
- Ensure effective and sustainable financial management of the organisation and compliance with all aspects of corporate governance
- Prepare and deliver high level reports and papers in line with organisational requirements to ensure the Board is informed and to support strategic decision making
- Represent the organisation and successfully engage with key stakeholders including community groups, funding bodies, organisations and partners in order to ensure sustainability of the organisation.
The successful applicant will have:
- Previous experience and success working at a senior leadership level reporting to a Board
- Strong understanding of the disability or closely linked sector, including demonstrated empathy and focus on our clients and their needs
- Proven ability to demonstrate a visionary yet person-centred leadership style combined with a strong commitment to organisational development and change management
- Experience in exploring synergies and opportunities between organisations
- Demonstrated success and experience developing and implementing strategic plans
- Experience in developing and executing marketing and communications strategies incorporating contemporary digital approaches
- Sound financial and operational business acumen including highly developed numeracy and literacy skills coupled with strong organisational skills
- Strong interpersonal, written communication and influencing skills including the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with the Board, staff and key stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate successfully relating to organisational and stakeholder opportunities and issues
- Relevant tertiary qualifications

This role is based in Geelong and therefore you may currently reside in or around Geelong or be willing to relocate to the region.
