Overview
We are seeking motivated Hydraulic Designers to join our growing Building Services team in Tasmania. This role offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of projects across the state, including residential, commercial, education, health, and government developments.
You will play a key role in delivering practical, compliant hydraulic designs that suit Tasmania's unique climate, construction methods, and regulatory requirements. This position is well suited to someone who enjoys hands‐on project involvement and working closely with local clients, authorities, and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and document hydraulic services including:
o Cold and hot water systems
o Sanitary drainage systems
o Stormwater systems
o Trade waste systems (where applicable)
o Fire services (hydrants and hose reels – if experienced)
* Prepare hydraulic layouts, schematics, and details using Revit and/or AutoCAD.
* Coordinate designs with architects, structural, civil, and other building services consultants.
* Ensure designs comply with:
o NCC (BCA)
o AS 3500 and relevant Australian Standards
o TasWater and local council requirements
* Provide support during construction, including responding to RFIs and site queries.
About You
* Qualification in hydraulic services, building services, or a related discipline.
* 3+ years' experience in hydraulic design within an Australian consultancy environment (preferred but not essential).
* Experience working with Tasmanian councils and water authorities is highly regarded.
* Proficient in Revit (preferred) and/or AutoCAD.
* Strong understanding of local construction practices.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and within a team.
* A practical, solutions-focused approach to design.
