Provide quality specialist anaesthetic services to the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) within the limits of specified clinical privileges.
The Team:
The LGH is seeking consultant anaesthetists to join this dynamic major regional hospital serving the community of northern Tasmania.
* Vibrant anaesthetic department supporting all clinical specialties (except cardiothoracic and neurosurgery)
* Dedicated and cohesive team working collaboratively to deliver high quality care within a multidisciplinary framework

Details of appointment:
* Multiple Permanent full time and part time, day worker (with on call) position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from June 2026.*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies.
Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $216,300 - $310,389 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation+ access to salary packaging.
The remuneration package for this position, based on classification as a Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 9, starts at $484,000 per annum, with potential for higher earnings in accordance with the current Specialist Medical Practitioner Award (Tasmania).
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 -$310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
* Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022
In addition, the following allowances and benefit, calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available
* Salary packaging options include a range of benefits like living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment every year
* Provision ofa fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $28,786 per annum, pro rata
* Participation in Private Practice Scheme 35% or allowance in lieu of private practice schemes 35%
* Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,974per annum, pro rata
* Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.
* Professional development and accelerated pathways.
* A range of leave entitlements, including study leave and Professional Development Support.
* Fitness Passport – You, and your family can access 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for just $14.50 per week per person, or $28.05 for a family.

Eligibility: Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria as
* Holds specialist registration; or
* Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway; or
* Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.
