Wespine, the leading softwood Timber Processor in Western Australia is currently ramping up production in an exciting new phase for the company and requires an experienced Project Engineer with the right attitude. The main objective of the Project Engineer is to provide engineering support to the various capital projects for the Dardanup timber manufacturing plant and Staxa's future warehouse in Perth, including upgrades/replacement of assets and major capital projects. Some of the projects that will be worked on include execution of treatment plants and upgrades to safety switchboards and PLCs.
Please note the successful candidate may be required to work over weekends on occasion and part of the Christmas period for Shutdowns that can occur. Time in Lieu will be provided for on such occasions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Develop Engineering solutions in conjunction with requirements of other operational teams. Produce designs that comply with relevant standards and general company requirements for risk management and in particular, safe operations during the carrying out of project work
* Develop and prepare project plan information such as scoping documents, diagrams, project costings and related schedules
* Prepare documents for the sourcing of contract services and / or purchase of related materials and supplies, including request for quotations/proposals, development of tender documents, provide evaluations of proposals.
* Liaise with contract service providers to prepare requests for quotations / proposals and or tenders for proposed work
* Manage & supervise project work including contractors on site to ensure that works are carried out safely and in according with planned outcomes such as completeness, timing and cost.
* Requisition items for approved projects and work
* Carry out technical appraisals relating to plant upgrades, replacements and other improvements
* Ensure that all contractors engaged in project works are appropriately prepared (competent, properly trained, using PPE, licenced and insured, work permits are in place, and they are aware of WESPINE's OHS Management policies) before any work is commenced throughout the duration of project works.
* Provide regular status reports on all work underway
* Managing multiple projects in parallel

Location:
* The position will be located at Wespine's manufacturing plant on Moore Road, Dardanup, Western Australia. Occasional travels to Perth, interstate and overseas might be required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
* Demonstrated project management skills
* Demonstrated research and technical analysis skills
* Previous Planning Engineering experience within a Fast Moving Production environment
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Communications skills
* Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor will be highly regarded
* Familiar with 3D modelling and 2D drafting
* Proficient in the use of MS word, Excel and Power point
* Proficient in the use of MS Projects, CAD
Knowledge
* General understanding of manufacturing techniques including automated equipment (mechanical and electrical)
* Timber processing industry (preferred but not essential)
Qualifications
* Tertiary degree in Mechanical Engineering
* Member of Engineers Australia
* NER or CPEng will be highly regarded.

Physical Requirements:
The role is a mixture of sedentary and physical activity. The successful candidate must have the ability to enter machinery zones for inspections and measurements, climb stairs and have the ability to commute from the office to the plant on multiple occasions throughout the day.
