Position Information 
The base school for this position is Bogangar Public School which is located on the beautiful Tweed Coast in the community of Bogangar/Cabarita Beach. The school has a current enrolment of 336 with 6% identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander as well as 13% having a language background other than English. The Itinerant Support Teacher – Vision (ISTV) supports schools to make the curriculum accessible to students with confirmed vision disabilities in preschools, primary schools, high schools, schools for specific purposes and support classes. ISTVs work in a multi-disciplinary team with students, parents and carers, school learning and support teams and other professionals. They conduct student assessments, participate in review meetings, support school staff in making teaching and learning adjustments, provide professional learning for school staff, explicitly teach relevant areas of the expanded core curriculum such as self-advocacy, independent living skills and safe movement techniques, and commit to relevant ongoing professional learning including in relevant assistive technology to develop and maintain expertise in this specialised role.

Specific Selection Criteria 
- Approval to teach Visual Impairment (primary and/or secondary), with demonstrated skills and knowledge in Braille instruction and transcription. 
- Ability to co-develop and monitor personalised learning and support plans with targeted learning goals and to contribute to personalised learning pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students with visual impairments. 
- High level communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with a proven capacity to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and external agencies, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and communities. 
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department of Education’s relevant disability policies as well as the policies and protocols supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in culturally safe environments and respecting cultural practices. 
Conditions 
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity. 
Ability and willingness to travel between worksites. The successful applicant will be required to travel by personal transport to regional and rural schools to support students with visual impairments and will require a current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle. 
Special Notes 
This is a permanent part-time position of 4 days per week, 0.8FTE (full time equivalent).
