Supporting Young Learners with SEMH Needs
This challenging yet rewarding role requires a dedicated individual to work as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school environment, supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide individualised support to pupils across the primary age range, tailoring strategies to meet their unique needs.
* Collaborate with teaching staff and external professionals to implement behaviour strategies and emotional regulation plans.
* Create a safe and nurturing classroom environment that promotes learning and emotional development.
* Track progress and support the development of each child's personal and academic goals.
* Contribute to planning interventions and reviewing pupil progress, ensuring effective outcomes.
Requirements:
* A relevant qualification in education, psychology, counselling, or child development.
* Previous experience supporting children with SEMH needs in a school, alternative provision, or youth work setting.
* Strong understanding of the primary curriculum and how to adapt learning for children with SEMH challenges.
* Ability to implement behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
* A strong understanding of attachment theory, trauma-informed practices, and behaviour management strategies.
* Resilience, patience, and a nurturing approach to supporting young learners.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff and parents.
