Afternoon / Night Shift Machine Operator – Steel Processing

Hanlon Industries is a proudly Australian, family-owned steel and construction company delivering high-quality commercial and infrastructure projects across Australia and New Zealand.
Due to continued growth in our fabrication operations, we are seeking an experienced Machine Operator to join our processing team on either afternoon or night shift. This role offers full-time hours, shift loading in line with the Manufacturing Award, regular overtime, and long-term stability.
About the role
You will work within the processing area of our steel fabrication workshop, operating a range of industrial machinery to prepare steel for downstream fabrication.
Shift loadings apply for afternoon and night shift work in accordance with the Manufacturing Award, in addition to base rates and overtime.
Machine operation responsibilities
* Set up, operate, and monitor machinery including:
* CNC beamlines
* Plate processors
* Rolling machines, saws, and pipe benders
* Calibrate machinery and verify tooling for material requirements
* Monitor performance and troubleshoot issues to minimise downtime
* Accurately log production data, material usage, and maintenance records
General workshop duties
* Follow company procedures, and quality systems
* Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work area
* Check work for accuracy and compliance with specifications
* Perform additional duties as directed by the shift Supervisor
What we're looking for (required)
* Experience operating industrial metalworking or fabrication machinery
* Physical capability for manual handling and machine operation
* Strong understanding of fabrication and workshop safety standards
* Initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision
* Strong commitment to quality and safe work practices
Desirable skills
* Forklift and overhead crane licences
* Basic computer literacy for machine interfaces and data logging
* Ability to interpret CNC code or machine programming (training available)
* Good communication skills and a team-focused mindset
