About Us

The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is a government agency responsible for addressing climate change, energy, environment, and water issues in Australia. As part of this department, we work towards achieving the Australian Government's goals for Antarctica.

Our Antarctic Program aims to:

* Maintain the Antarctic Treaty System and enhance Australia's influence within it.
* Protect the Antarctic environment.
* Understand the role of Antarctica in the global climate system.
* Undertake scientific work of practical, economic, and national significance.

We also administer the Australian Antarctic Territory and the Territory of Heard and McDonald Islands.

Job Description

The Cargo Planning Officer plays a vital role in our Supply Chain Operations team. This role involves forecasting and facilitating cargo in support of our Australian Antarctic Program.

You will engage regularly with internal and external stakeholders, including:

* Contributing to seasonal cargo forecasts.
* Maintaining succinct cargo planning documentation and clear seasonal communications.
* Working collaboratively with warehouse and biosecurity teams to coordinate consignments.
* Providing guidance on sensitive cargo items.
* Assisting Station Supply Officers with Return to Australia cargo forecasts.
* Participating in annual reviews of cargo-related Standard Operating Procedures.
* Delivering supply chain management training.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop and maintain cargo forecasts and plans.
2. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
3. Manage cargo tracking and inventory monitoring.
4. Ensure compliance with dangerous goods regulations.
5. Contribute to safe working environments and risk management.

* Cargo or resource management experience.

* Familiarity with data management systems and inventory monitoring.
* Awareness of international standards for dangerous goods transport.

Eligibility and Requirements

* Australian citizenship.
* Suitability assessed through pre-employment screening process.
* Vaccination against COVID-19 may be required under public health orders.
