Astro Aero Pty Ltd was established to design and develop a new General Aviation (GA) Utility Aircraft to meet an identified market opportunity. This aircraft is targeted to be the largest Type Certified, propeller driven, single engine aircraft available and is one of the more significant aircraft development projects currently underway in Australia. With wind-tunnel testing recently completed in the USA, we are now moving into the prototype manufacturing stage and are actively recruiting skilled Tradespeople and Artisans. The project provides a rare opportunity for those skilled in concept design, all aspects of aeronautical engineering, prototype parts manufacture and assembly, to work on and contribute to, a significant new aircraft project. Requirements to be considered for these particular roles are:
* Prototyping skills and experience- preferably with aircraft or similar thin gauge sheet metal construction.
* Experience in aspects of aluminium sheet metal parts press forming, fabrication, riveting, tooling and assembly processes.
* Experience in the operation of CNC routers and Press brakes.
* Demonstrate quality workmanship, attention to detail and technical skills in a safety critical industry.
* Use measuring tools to check parts against engineering drawings and data.
* Apply principles of logic to a wide range of technical problems.
* Analyse and interpret technical drawings and design data.
* Maintain accurate documentation for traceability.
* Appreciation of Quality Control and OH&S policies and procedures.
* Work well independently and cross-functionally as part of a diverse growing team.
* Maintain a clean and organised work area.
Skills and Experience
* Relevant Trade qualifications in sheet metal fabrication product development, tool making, machining, engineering or mechanical or closely related, demonstrable experience and ability.
Tasks & responsibilities
* Successful applicants for this position will be tasked with prototyping activities in relation to the tooling, fabrication, assembly and testing of a new Australian utility aircraft.
