Temporary (Up to February 2028) full-time (35 hours per week) opportunity Parramatta, hybrid working supported Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $124,322 to $138,494 super Our Strategic Policy, Science and Engagement Group is seeking to appoint a Senior Policy Officer to support the Deputy Secretary and senior executives by coordinating high‑quality advice and approvals across a diverse and fast‑paced policy environment. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the heart of government, contributing to informed decision‑making on priority issues facing NSW. Working within the Office of the Deputy Secretary, you will support the coordination of high‑quality advice and approvals across the SPSE Group. The role involves managing Ministerial, Cabinet and Parliamentary briefings, liaising with teams across the group, and ensuring advice is clear, accurate and ready to support timely executive decision‑making. You will review and edit complex material, manage requests for information from senior stakeholders, track priorities and emerging issues, mentor colleagues and operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment with competing deadlines and sensitive matters. About You You are a confident and highly organised policy professional who thrives in fast‑paced, high‑profile environments. You bring a strong understanding of how government operates, or the ability to quickly build that understanding, and are comfortable working with senior stakeholders to support complex decision‑making. You take a proactive, solutions‑focused approach and can exercise sound judgement when managing sensitive and time‑critical matters. You are a clear and persuasive communicator with strong written skills and an eye for detail. You work collaboratively across teams, can balance multiple priorities, and are able to analyse, synthesise and present information in a way that supports executive‑level decisions. Calm under pressure and adaptable, you contribute positively to team culture while delivering high‑quality outcomes to tight timeframes. Key knowledge and experience Understanding of the machinery of Government and the policy process, or demonstrated ability to acquire knowledge quickly. Strong writing and editing skills and the confidence to work with senior executives.
