Position Information:
Rutherford Public School is a large regional school in the western suburbs of Maitland serving the communities of Rutherford and Aberglasslyn, with a current enrolment of 960 students. Currently 20% of the students identify as Aboriginal and there is a rich diversity of cultural backgrounds. The school has a strong emphasis on student wellbeing and ensuring a safe learning environment for all. The skilled and dedicated staff, at various career stages, strive to provide a balanced and diverse curriculum developing future focused learners in a secure, secure setting. The school underwent a major capital works upgrade in 2019/2020 and is a modern and well-resourced school. Flexible learning spaces and information communication technologies (ICT) are utilised as a tool for learning and living. The school provides a wide range of extracurricular activities including instrumental ensembles (violin, drumming, keyboard and brass), choir, dance, debating, chess, and a before school sports coaching program. The school is committed to team-oriented planning and curriculum development, where co-teaching opportunities are encouraged and supported.
Selection Criteria:
Approval to teach Infants and Primary (K-6) with a proven ability to use evidence-informed practices to deliver differentiated and engaging literacy and numeracy programs to meet the needs of and improve the outcomes for all learners.
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a collaborative team that embraces and implements whole-school improvement, and the demonstrated capacity to establish and maintain positive relationships with staff, students, parents, and the wider school community.
Commitment to whole-school positive wellbeing programs, with a strong emphasis on effective classroom practice and behaviour management strategies.
Demonstrated ability to implement policies, strategies and pedagogies to cater for a diverse learning community, including for students with additional support needs and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
Demonstrated experience and commitment to enriching opportunities for students by developing, coordinating and implementing whole school extra-curricular programs, such as music ensembles, choir and sport.
