Seeking a Principal Data Analyst on a temporary full-time basis located in Fortitude Valley. You will focus on analysing, manipulating and presenting data to support delivery of healthcare services for Queensland.

The role

Reporting to the Program Director Better Hospital Flows project, you will be responsible for analysing, manipulating and presenting data.

The Queensland Government is investing in improved hospital services through real-time data and targeted technology upgrades under the Health Plan Commitment. A key priority action is Better Hospital Flows (GEC124), which focuses on modernising digital systems to improve hospital workflows, patient flow and visibility of bed availability across the state. Delivery of GEC124 is being progressed through two related initiatives:

* Project 3a, which focuses on enhancements to the Statewide Management Information System (SWMIS) to improve the timeliness, quality and consistency of core operational data; and
* Project 3b, which focuses on the assessment, planning and implementation of a statewide Patient Flow Insights capability that translates operational data into actionable insights.

Government Election Commitment (GEC) 124 – Better Hospital Flows – Project 3b comprises two phases: Phase 1 - Assessment and Phase 2 - Implementation.

This role relates to Project 3b: Assessment and Implementation and hereafter refers to it as the "project".

In addition to this, you will be responsible for:

* Plan and design analyses, extract, manipulate and perform statistical analysis of data using statistical software and prepare reports to disseminate information to meet the needs of the organisation.
* Query missing, incomplete or inconsistent data using analysis software, including but not limited to Oracle SQL, SAS, R or Excel and undertake analysis and write queries and reports as required.
* Display a wide variety of visual reports, KPI scorecards and dashboards, utilizing programs such as Power BI and Tableau.
* Inspect, cleanse, transform and analyse raw data to discover useful information, inform conclusions and support effective decision making.
* As required, design and build scalable data models and enabling advanced analytic capabilities that provide meaningful business value through easy-to-comprehend data visualisations.
* Collaborate with key stakeholders to deliver relevant business insights based on identified business requirements.
* Work independently through unstructured tasks.
* Prepare confidential, complex reports, briefings and correspondence and initiate action associated with financial, procurement, human resource and other matters as required by the Program Director, Better Hospital Flows.
Are you right for this role?

To be successful in the role, you will have demonstrated capacity to analyse complex system issues and processes, provide specification/solution development and design and business case development. (NFL: Supports Strategic Direction).

Furthermore, you will have demonstrated:

* Demonstrated high level of knowledge and experience in statistical methods and concepts and demonstrated ability to appropriately use statistical procedures and interpret statistical information.
* Demonstrated high level of programming, data manipulation and analysis ability, including experience using statistical programming packages to interrogate, extract, and manipulate data, conduct descriptive and inferential statistical analysis and produce figures and tables; and experience with large and complex data sets and relational databases.
* Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills and written communication skills, including ability to consult with personnel at all levels in the organisation, external organisations and professional groups, ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience, and report writing skills.
* Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and to effectively monitor and co-ordinate stakeholders to achieve outcomes and to meet deadlines.
* Demonstrated ability to manage and develop members of a professional team in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices.
