We are currently seeking a Product Development Chemist to join our team in Clayton. The successful candidate will work within our COIL business and be responsible for developing, formulating and testing new COIL coatings products, as well as improving profitability through optimisation of processes.
The role would be well suited to someone from a chemistry background with 1-3 years' experience in the coatings industry. It is based on-site 5 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
* Developing, formulating and testing new products
* Providing technical expertise for the development and introduction of new coil coating products
* Providing innovative solutions to overcome challenges encountered with products
* Independently maintaining and improving existing products including critical property testing
* Understanding the short term and long-term technical strategies of the business unit
* Planning and conducting field trials to introduce PPG technology into the marketplace
* Comply with PPG's EHS policies and standards
Requirements
* Bachelors degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering
* 1 – 3 years' experience in the coatings industry preferred
* Chemical expertise, including polymer chemistry, curing mechanisms, coating performance, adhesion and corrosion
* Experience in paint failure investigation
* Practical knowledge of SAP systems
* Strong planning and organizational skills
* The ability to write and present reports
