The Job Description
This full-time position involves a range of responsibilities, including ensuring food quality and presentation, cooking dishes from the menu, and maintaining kitchen equipment.
Responsibilities
* Examine food to ensure quality and presentation.
* Cook a variety of dishes from the menu using different methods such as pan frying, deep frying, steaming, boiling, and roasting.
* Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods.
* Portion food, place it on plates, and add gravies, sauces, and garnishes.
* Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment to maintain them in good working condition.
* Report to management if any maintenance is required.
* Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment.
* Order raw materials from suppliers based on business needs.
* Review menus with head chefs and contribute to seasonal changes.
* Follow and maintain all health and safety requirements for safe kitchen operations.
* Clean and maintain work areas and kitchen equipment.
* Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies.
* Assist with ordering supplies.
* Cook menu items in cooperation with other kitchen staff.
* Contribute to menu development in consultation with chefs and restaurant managers.
